Does this topic seem a bit boring? Give me a minute to convince you that taking the time to prepare your beans, nuts and grains makes all the difference to your health.
There are so many facts and figures that we could delve into on this topic but I want to keep it basic. Our main goal in soaking and/or sprouting is to improve digestibility and eliminate phytic acid.
The basics that we need to know is that God created a outer barrier on these particular food groups to keep their minerals and nutrients inside until the time that they are needed. For instance, a seed or a bean is designed to keep up their barrier until they are planted and start to grow because they need all of their nutrients at that point.
The barrier is not a bad thing, rather it is an important protection, built in by God, that is absolutely necessary for plants all around us to grow. We just need to keep that in mind as we try to consume them.
Another issue we encounter in these food groups is phytic acid. This substance is basically a mineral magnet. As we digest something with phytic acid the minerals that we currently have in our system attach to it and get taken out of our bodies. It is not ironic that in this society of high grain consumption there is also a high level of mineral deficiency.
Needless to say, soaking and/or sprouting beans, grains, and nuts eliminates both of these issues!
